Dr. Sofoklis Makridis is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia in Kozani, Greece. He is a physicist while he received the M.Sc. in 2002 and the Ph.D. in 2004 in fields of Materials Science and Engineering (Magnetic Materials). His Postdoc research has been accomplished on Materials for Hydrogen Storage by having a fellowship from the State Scholarships Foundation. Since 2004, he gives lectures ten hours per week in the UOWM by covering physics, materials for hydrogen technologies and energy. He is currently an Associate Editor in Central European Journal of Physics, Editor in Central European Journal of Chemistry regarding Solid State Chemistry-Hydrogen Technologies and a Member of the IEEE Magnetics Society. He is a collaborative person in the MEANDER Group and in the Environmental Technology Laboratory. He has more than 40 publications in international journals, conference proceedings and book chapters. He has been involved in at least 10 research programs, in many of which as a principal investigator in his field. He has 8 invited lectures in Research Centers and Universities and 3 invited lectures in conferences abroad in the last 5 years . His curriculum vitae has been cited in Marquis Who's Who in the World (2010) and selected as one of the leading achievers from around the globe. Since 2011 he is in the Management Committee of the Cost actions related to his fields of expertise by representing the Greek Secretariat for Research and Technology. Recently, he participated as a guest editor in the topical issue 'Materials for Hydrogen Technologies' of CEJC.
