Prof. Yiannis Bakouros is Associate Professor at the University of Western Macedonia, where he began his academic career in 2003. He graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as a Chemical Engineer, in 1981 and took his PhD in the field of Technological Management in 1988 from the University of Bradford, UK. He worked as production and sales manager in industrial, commercial and consultancy enterprises. He also served as a member of the board of directors and as technical advisor to big textile manufacturing companies. He was director in the development of Thessaloniki Technology Park (TTP) and the establishment of its Training Centre, with emphasis to the education of engineers in methodologies and mechanisms for transfer of technology. He also served as a chairman in the 32 European National Coordinators of EYREKA initiative, during the Greek Presidency. Projects were drawn and executed in Greece, Western Europe, Eastern Europe and the Balkans, mainly focused on his main research activities, Management of Technology, Regional Growth, Clusters, Regional Strategies of Innovation, National Innovation Policies, Development of Science and Technology Parks, Innovation Poles, Networks of Management of Information, Reliability, Maintenance, Industrial Safety.
